(Drag queen)"
Drag queen
Definition: A man who dresses up in women's clothes, typically for the purposes of entertainment.
Early in November, I was working on a documentary project in Nebraska. In order to get some footages, we visited a local bar famous for being LGBTQ-friendly. And that night happened to be the finale of Omaha Drag War, so I got to see many drag queens.
Due to the time constraints, I wasn't able to talk to or know much about the performers and contestants, but from the opening videos, I got to glimpse into their experience.
Here I share what I've heard and seen.
(Script from Das Haus, Lincoln, NE.)

Now, take a deep breath
And trust me:
The beautiful women you're about to see
are all dressed up by men

"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Omaha Drag War"

"There's something you need to know before we start our show"

"The use of flash photography is strictly -- mandatory
You want these beautiful women to just exist in your feeble memory?
Huh
Take a picture and last forever"
(Let's have a neck exercise:)

"Get some drinks, people
The more you drink, the prettier we look"

"Tip is compulsory
If you don't know what compulsory means, let me explain to you:
Tip -- These -- Men
It takes a lot of money to look this cheap, darling!"

"Be kind to your entertainer
If you see something unseen, offensive, something vile or disgusting
Take your complain after the show to gof*ckyourself.com"

"All this is not as easy as it looks"

"Never touch our hair
Compliment our nails"

"Show your generosity, not monstrosities
Show respect, kindness, compassion"

"Most of all, whenever possible,
tell us,
'You look gorgeous' "

Before we left, I heard a performer saying that she drove for 5 hours from another state just to be here tonight, and she had work at 10 am the next morning.
Aside from that, unfortunately, I wasn't able to know more about the performers.
I don't know, nor can I imagine, how much it'd take for those drag queens to stand on the stage tonight, showing their feminine beauty with such an amazing amount of confidence.

On our way back, we walked past an empty space that had lights on -- a yellow dress was hanging there.
What kind of people would be wearing that dress?
I think I will never know.
